A Note from the Founder

I've spent much of my career helping people navigate transitions.

Sometimes those transitions were between high school and college. Sometimes they were between college and work. Other times they involved new technologies, new credentials, or entirely new ways of thinking about learning.

One lesson has remained remarkably consistent:

People rarely struggle because they lack the ability to understand. More often, they struggle because information is presented from someone else's starting point.

Experts write for experts.

Researchers write for researchers.

Technologists write for technologists.

Meanwhile, readers arrive with different experiences, different goals, different motivations, and different questions.

For years, I've wondered:

What if documents could meet readers where they are instead of asking readers to meet the document?

That question became CommonGround.

CommonGround isn't designed to change facts or simplify ideas beyond recognition. It exists to preserve an author's intent while adapting the explanation to the person reading it. The same ideas remain intact; the path to understanding simply changes.

Today, CommonGround uses carefully designed reader profiles and contextual information to help tailor explanations. Tomorrow, I believe those explanations will become even more meaningful through learner-owned records, digital credentials, and portable memory that individuals control themselves.

My hope is simple.

Whether you're exploring a new career, teaching students, hiring talent, building workforce systems, or simply trying to understand a complex idea, I hope CommonGround helps you spend less time decoding information and more time discovering what matters.
